1.  Why are extra ingredients added to Pickwick herbal teas?

To make our herbal teas even tastier, we have added several extra ingredients to the mix. These ingredients do not have a negative influence on the possible beneficial effects of the drink. For instance, pure green tea tastes rather bitter without any extras. By adding lemon flavour to the blend, this effect gets compensated. And adding spices gives Rooibos its rich flavour.

2. What is the difference between black tea and green tea?

Black tea and green tea are both made from the Camellia sinensis leaf. The difference between black and green tea is based on the way the tea leaves are processed. The colour difference is caused by a natural fermentation process. During this process the leaf juice is exposed to oxygen. As a result, the colour of the leaves changes from bright green to brown. Fermentation is applied to black tea, while green tea production does not involve a fermentation stage. After withering, the leaves are steamed and therefore maintain their green colour.

For centuries, green tea is very popular in Asia, where it is known for its beneficial effects. In the Western world there is an increasing interest in the positive effects of tea. Recent research results prove that black tea, as well as green tea, contains strong antioxidants. So, whether you choose black or green tea, drinking tea is good for you.

3. Is herbal tea similar to regular?

No. Herbs are not extracted from tea shrubs, but from other plant life. Drink Pickwick herbal tea for a change, on a special moment of the day. During pregnancy and breast feeding we advice to restrict the daily usage of herbal teas.
